Hangaroo
Hangaroo is a hidden-phrase game. It takes the popular offline paper-and-pen, hidden-phrase Hangman game in a unique direction by replacing the stickman with a kangaroo.
The game presents the player with an orange board marked with green spaces for letters from words that make up a phrase related to a topic category. It also displays the modern English alphabet above the board. The kangaroo waits on the left side.
To win, the player must guess the correct letters and words. They use their controls to select letters. If they guess correctly, the letters fill relevant spaces. If they win a level by guessing the topic phrase, they move on to the next unlocked level out of 10 total.
When the player makes four incorrect letter guesses, as represented by red Xs and negative commentary from the kangaroo, the orange board turns red. Additionally, the kangaroo dies and becomes an angry winged ghost.
Hangaroo has a 2001 release date. This version of the game isn't an updated copy. As a result, many words and phrases are from before that date. Common subject categories include authors, book titles, entertainment, geographic locations, politics and popular culture.
How To Play
Review the topic category. Start by guessing vowels. If possible, guess the words of the phrase. If there aren't enough letters on the board, consider common letters next, such as H, N, R, S and T. When ready, fill all the remaining spaces to complete a phrase. Play every level without killing the kangaroo.
