Klondike Solitaire, sometimes referred to as only Solitaire, requires the player to move cards from two areas on a green baize card table with a wood top rail to four suit-based spaces by following the rules of the Klondike version of classic Solitaire. The player's main goals are to achieve the best time and score possible.
The game offers a Draw 1 option for simpler play and a Draw 3 option for more complex play. The player receives part of a standard deck of cards in seven columns at the center of the table. They receive the rest in a draw pile in an upper-left area.
The player needs to locate and transfer Aces first to the suit-based piles. They then build up the piles using an ascending order that ends with Kings. That said, within the columns, they can only sort cards into new column builds based on a descending, alternating-color-and-suit order. If they remove enough cards to create a gap between the columns, they can only move a King to the spot. If they run out of moves, they can use the draw pile an unlimited number of times.
Klondike Solitaire also allows the player to reverse one or more moves using a lower-right back arrow. They can stop play at any time and then resume or reset to a new Draw 1 or Draw 3 game via the lower-left gear button. They can track their time, the number of steps they've taken, their score so far, and their total best score at the top of the table.
