Balloons Rhombics, also known as Bubble Rhombic, is another geometry-themed bubble-shooting game from the series that includes Balloons Around! and Balloons Pyramids. This time, the player must clear seven rows of balloon bubbles, distributed across the four sides of a rhombus on top of a grid of bubbles, from the playfield using a thin laser aiming line and a central balloon projectile.
As with Bubbles Around!, this game doesn't offer booster play. Instead, the player must remove all bubbles from the playfield with only their laser line, projectile, and a preview of the next projectile to help guide their strategy. To clear away the balloons, the player uses each projectile to create clusters of three or more color-matched ones. The game sucks away these balloon bubbles and any non-matching, connected balloons.
Balloons Rhombics also tries to make play more difficult by distracting the player with bubble, hexagon and rhombus shapes of varying sizes and shades on the dark blue background. It makes these shapes randomly appear and fade away. If this distraction or lack of a clear shot causes the player to fail to make a cluster, they receive a free pass three times. Once they run out of free passes, the game adds a new row and moves the remaining other balloons on the grid into new positions.
